Testimonials:
“My experience in the MTV Summer Associates Program was great! I was placed on the digital marketing team at Nickelodeon which was the perfect place for me to get a wide-range of experience within the business. I became a true member of the team and learned a lot from my team members who helped me continuously develop my skills and knowledge in the digital space throughout the course of the summer. When not working at Nick, I was with my fellow “SAPers” - who quickly became my new family for the summer. Each week we participated in career-oriented workshops, listened to speakers from across MTV Networks, conversed with mentors, and worked on our projects for the summer. The highlight of the program? Presenting our final project to top-level executives at Nickelodeon – and we killed it! It was truly an amazing way to end an already awesome summer.” – J.C.
"The Summer Associate Program is one of the best programs I have seen for recent college graduates who want to work in digital entertainment. It is also one of the most rigorous and requires a great deal of dedication and cooperation from its participants. There will be days when you have back-to-back meetings and barely any time to work on your assigned job. There will be nights where you'll have to stay in late to get everything ready for the final project. At the end of it all though, you will be ready to enter the workforce.. Bottomline: SAP prepares you for where you want to go and beyond." – G.M.
Being a part of the Summer Associate Program is a great way to transition from college to the real world. My experience with Digital Ad Sales Research at Nickelodeon was amazing. Research is the foundation of the business at MTV Networks. The findings are deep and support the Sales Team in building profitable relationships with clients. If you want to be involved in Market Research or Advertising Research, there is no better place than MTV Networks to immerse yourself in the field. Because MTV targets the ‘youth of America’ the research findings are almost always changing and are the ‘coolest’ facts to relay to clients, especially in the ever changing digital landscape. Molding research information into presentable and interesting stories is the key to a good research person. Some of my responsibilities included fulfilling weekly campaign reports for clients at Paramount Pictures, work on a summer long project to outline the competitive landscape for Nickelodeon digital properties, attend Focus Groups for an ongoing Ethnography about a target demographic of a Nickelodeon Digital Property, build a business plan and revenue model with my fellow ‘SAP-ers’ to present to Senior Executives at MTV Networks, hang out and become best friends with the ‘SAPs’! – C.G.
My experience as a MTVN Summer Associate has been very positive. I was very excited to have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects with other talented and motivated people. While working in a Web Developer position for MTVN I was also able to learn more about Marketing, Graphic Design, and Research through my group members. Working with my group members really taught me a lot about communication and teamwork, and the program itself opened many doors for me even as a recent graduate. The Summer Associate program also has the benefit of providing ways for you to get feedback from senior staff, who act as your mentors. It is a great chance to develop your skills in a live work environment and learn industry best practices. Overall, the Summer Associates Program was a lot of fun and a great learning experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat!- S.W.
As a Web/Product Development Summer Associate, I assisted my team in creating the assets needed to launch a new digital product. I created icons, e.g., thumbs up/down ratings, 9x9 social media icons, graphics like avatar place holders, etc. I spent most of my time modifying layouts in photoshop and illustrator for an update to the flux site and to add new features across all of the Viacom digital properties. It was a really hands on experience where I was able to use my skills while learning a lot from my team. - M.M.
